AT&T, Verizon Galaxy Note 5 Obtains Android 7.0 Nougat At Last

It would not be out of place to say that better late than never applies with each Android update, what with the Galaxy Note 5 on AT&T and Verizon picking it up at last.
Latest on Android Nougat roll out. It gets rather tricky figuring out just which particular smartphone model will be on the receiving end of the latest Android operating system version.

If there is one particular issue that many people have with the world of Android smartphones and tablets, it would be the update availability each time a new version of Android rolls out. Android 7.0 Nougat was first announced and released last year, and while it has arrived on many a flagship device since then (with some having to go through a fair bit of waiting as well), the older flagships still continue to languish in Android 6.0 Marshmallow territory. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on AT&T and Verizon is one such example, but it certainly looks as though all of the agonized waiting is about to come to an end.

This is a special week, since the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on AT&T looks set to pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat update. This would make it the latest Galaxy Note device to be supported, which is no surprise taking into consideration how the Galaxy Note 7 had a fiery issue that caused it to be pulled out from the market. Apart from Android 7.0 Nougat, the Galaxy Note 5 will also be on the receiving end of the March security updates, Samsung Cloud, and network enhancements.

What about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on Verizon? This flagship Galaxy Note device might be aged, but that does not mean it is out of the equation, either. Verizon claims that the Android 7.0 Nougat update for their Galaxy Note 5 will reinvigorate the phablet, giving it a new lease of life thanks to additional software features such as the newest Air command that allows the user to create GIFs while obtaining instant translations thanks to the S Pen. Not only that, one will also be able to edit and markup PDFs, not to mention receiving superior battery management tools with an improved performance.

For folks who are rocking to Sprint, you would be pleased to know that your Samsung Galaxy S6 as well as Galaxy S6 edge would be picking up the Android 7.0 Nougat as well. Sprint has yet to update their official page just yet, but this does not mean that Nougat goodness is not forthcoming for both devices. It would be best to constantly refresh the software update screen on these previous flagship models, as OTA (Over The Air) updates tend to take their time as they roll out in stages.

Sprint has also not forgotten about the HTC One M9, as the mobile carrier continues to work on its Android 7.0 Nougat update releases. There is no official statement on Sprint’s update page concerning the HTC One M9 just yet, but a number of users have reported that the OTA update has already started to populate their device, much to their surprise and glee. This particular Android 7.0 Nougat update will be accompanied by the February security patch as well. Do take note that the age of the HTC One M9 is already more than a couple of years old, which means it would be no surprise if it misses out on the Android 8.0 Oreo bandwagon when that arrives on the scene.
